About Me

NW_logo_clear.png

I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist since 2007 with emphasis in the areas of eating disorders and body image issues. I also have extensive experience in the treatment of alcohol and other drugs, depression, and anxiety.

I am a graduate of UCLA and obtained my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Santa Barbara. I have received training from Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, the Family Service Agency, and UC Santa Barbara where I acted as a lead counselor in the Drug and Alcohol Program. Beyond that, I acquired in-depth knowledge of the treatment of eating disorders by training as an intern in private practice under the supervision of Suzanne Manser, PhD. In 2017 I completed the Level 1 course in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a unique modality geared specifically towards the treatment of trauma, through the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute.

I currently teach The Process of Psychotherapy in the Counseling Psychology Program at Pacifica Graduate Institute. I have served as Adjunct Faculty at Antioch University as well as Santa Barbara City College, where I developed the curriculum for The Recognition and Treatment of Eating Disorders.

My Approach

We live in a culture that promotes individuality, which taken too far, can create loneliness and isolation. I often hear the question "how do I become more connected to myself and those around me?" The safety of a strong therapeutic relationship can provide an arena to confront thoughts and feelings that hinder us from developing deeper and more satisfying relationships, both with ourselves and with others. Together we can foster a deeper understanding of yourself and how you navigate your day-to-day life. This can facilitate change that can lead to improved self-esteem, more satisfying relationships, and a reduction in debilitating behaviors.

It is my belief that one of the most important elements of successful therapy is the relationship developed between the client and therapist. I welcome any questions you may have about how I work and what you can expect from therapy.
